With my job again cut short, no plans for the afternoon, and St. Louis being tantalizingly close, I made the decision to drive home a day early. I waited long enough to make sure Mark would have other options for a chase car, and then I bid farewell to Charleston. Of all the conventions I've attended I heard more positive things about the organization and staff this year than ever before. Although the weather wasn't cooperative they still managed to put on an impressive event including the coup of Tony Stewart's appearance. My thanks to Bill Fortune and his associates for making West Virginia an inviting home away from home for a week! Next year's location is virtually in my backyard in Collinsville, Illinois, so there definitely won't be a trailer story, or any trip tale for that matter. Perhaps we'll have to stage a grudge match on the gocart track to make up for it...
