Well first it seems that Pontiac has definitely gotten wind of some of the bad "press" the 2004 GTO has gotten - especially on the internet. Their desire was to bring in people associated with the hobby and let them loose with mules that are mechanically identical to the production car (though missing some of the aesthetic details). Given that, who better to include in the group than Jim Wangers? Other than historically, Jim has no official capacity at Pontiac and was not compensated for his evaluation. At the same time he doesn't have any axes to grind and approached the session with an open mind hoping that Pontiac had done their homework with the GTO from down under and tweaked it into a car worthy of carrying the GTO emblem.
