Interesting read, maybe you saw these articles in the 70s. Now the car is offered at very high prices I am sure. To think it was going to get track thrashed in the 3rd owners period, in Ohio. And the publisher instructed them to preserve it instead.

Cool article, I sold some OHC parts to a guy from Salem, OR. He worked for some collectors their who have at leaast one more of these cars, maybe more. They had talked about opening to the public but I think that idea is shelved for a while, anyway you can see one of theirs here. Anybody remember the guy who used to post on here, maybe still does, that had a hard top 69 T/A? I think his name is Kenny from SLC. I met him once in Spokane, very nice guy.

I started off with a 67 Firebird Convertible 400 auto. Many many years later as I was buying some worthy cars as keepers, I landed on a very nice CA 69 Firebird Conv 400 spd (converted from auto). Even though is not a super rare TA, it is quite the head turner, wtih a fully loaded options sheet and interesting paint graphics. I have zero doubt it will holds its value and probably climb, as these specimens in great condition are increasingly hard to find. Kenny G also had the cool 71? wagon with the endura nose. I believe he parted with that.

Yes, agreed, stunning car. A bit of worthless trivia, the first time I ever remember that car catching my eye was on a Monty Python sketch. Its probably on Internet Movie Car Data Base. Did anyone else happen to catch the hit piece Jay Leno did in the Haggerty magazine on JZD. Its not like I ever thought he was St John or anything, but credit needs to given where credit is do for him being a brilliant engineer/marketer. I think he reshaped the American auto industry. Certainly GM. Anyway Leno's article was not flattering, and IIRC JZDs daughter wrote a pretty succinct rebuttal, in the mail section, then a few months later Leno buys a first gen FB conv OHC on his YouTube channel and goes on about how ahead of its time it was. Not sure what to think about that. When I watch his channel I have seen a lot of B and O but not much P. Maybe he did some research.
