Now that the new website has been officially unveiled today, I thought I'd start a Q&A topic related to it. Thank you for visiting!

Glad to see you back. Lots have been done in the mean time. Got the rest done on my LeMans and finished the rest on my friends '69.

Wow! It's so new...can it still be classical, or is it now corporate Pontiac? :) lol It looks good! I hope it draws some folks in.

Thanks, Ashley. Still just me, so I guess not corporate yet :)

I used to love the social aspect of this site...... spent hours in the chat room. As much as I like PY for info, never got into, or seemed to be accepted among my peers there for general conversation. If this site does come back to life, would love to see a dedicated chat room again to see how it does.

TBOY I am converting the pertinent technical information starting with the Compression Calculator on a new "Technical" menu. The Member pages still exist where they were, but it looked like nothing had been edited in 10 years, so I hadn't planned to make any update there. Is someone still using them?

RICH
67 I thought the Wall was fine - I can write another chat room if it is wanted.

Rich, you say the Member pages still exist where they were, but I'm not finding them. And I'm not seeing the archives this weekend (I'm also at home PC instead of work). Just wondering if it's me, or... And the tech menu is great, BTW.

Ashley they exist as in they are still in the same spot. If there were outside links to them they still work. Haven’t worked out how or what all to try to incorporate here.

I finished what I thought should be brought over from the old site for the Technical section. Looking at the old address below, any thoughts on the remainder?

OLD GUY
Rich, one thing that might help as well as the Static Compression Ratio calculator is adding a Dynamic Compression Ratio calculator.
09/25/2018 13:38
RICH
If someone can show me the formula for it, I can look at adding it.

Dynamic compression gets pretty complicated since it's basically figuring volumetric efficiency. Might be better left to an engine sim program. Thoughts, Old guy?

Very nice update!! I bought this car and towed it home in 2000. Because I barely knew what was doing I spent hours going over CP archives to figure out how to get my dream car on the road. It runs great now with a Nunzi cam, CR Q-jet, and always Rotella of course! Thanks to you and all the people that have contributed, to this site, my wife and I enjoy the car immensely. Plus a lot of fun along the way, NASCAR heads, POTIAC LAMNAS, darksider posts. Well done sir!

I use the DCR all the time, not hard at all. Decades ago, a Chevelle guy, the late Pat Kelley (RIP Pat) and I designed it at a Chevelles car meet at a restaurant in Pasadena, California, and it is essential to getting things figured out. Since that first effort, the DCR has had a couple of updates, and works even better. Do you now what your idling compression ratio is??? DCR will show it, and help get the tune up even better.

Old Guy, I guess I get hung up over the term "ratio". The engine has one compression ratio. If the engine built with 10:1, then it's 10:1 at idle all the way to the RPM when a rod spits out the block. Volumetric efficiency does change, and that changes cylinder pressures as it does. I think I'm hung up over calling a partially filled cylinder a lesser "ratio" than it is. Sure, it's acting like it's got a lower CR, but I think cylinder pressure is what every hotrodder is concerned with. Why not concern ourselves with PSI?
